Wednesday
Night Beer Can Races Meet the boats by the hoist!
Wednesday night Beer Can races are in full swing!
Meet by the hoist in the Tahoe Keys Marina between 4:30
and 5:00pm. If you're interested in sailing, take a look
at our Crew List page. Follow the link below for directions
to the Marina. Park on the street just outside the parking
lot and walk to the big yellow hoist.
If a race committee boat on station they WILL use universal
time (UT). They will make signals according to Racing Rules
of Sailing 26. You may use their signals for time. Recommend
you always synch your watch to UT.
First warning is 1800. Slow boat start is 1805. Fast boat
start is 1810. One design Express 27 start is 1815.
If no committee boat on station: No horns will be sounded.
Have watch synched to UT/GPS time, corrected to Pacific
Daylight Time. See link below. Recommend you synch watch
a few hours before racing. Start times as above. The start
line/finish line is between white can (a mark sometimes
known as O or Club Mark) and a temporary mark. If no temporary
mark the line is an imaginary line extending 100 yards from
Club Mark towards the outermost green channel marker of
the homeowner's channel. The course is always the traditional
Beer Can Course of Camp Rich (C) to port, Ross (R) to port.
The WIBCR was blessed with no thunderstorms and enough
wind to start on time. The miracle of the reverse phrf start
was realized at the leeward mark. All the boats arrived
at the leeward mark at the same time. Even so, no gelcoat
was damaged.
Race Committee
Boat Duty
It shall be the responsibility of all members, who wish to
race, to serve as committee boat, if needed, at least once
a season. The race committee boat duty roster shall be maintained
by the Rear Commodore or his/her delegate.
After June 1, the Rear Commodore shall assign members who
wish to race, to any vacant committee boat dates. The members
volunteered or assigned shall be responsible for running said
race: If the responsible member is not able to fulfill his/her
obligation, that member is responsible to find a replacement.
If the responsible person does not complete his/her obligation,
that person's boat will not be allowed to compete in any Windjammers
Yacht Club sanctioned events until he has acted as a race
committee in an subsequent event.
This list compiled from Pete's list and my own sources-if
you have a problem with your sign up let
me (SDK) know asap - no whining.
